Brus Chambers opens shop in New York

Mumbai-based law firm Brus Chambers has opened an office is New York, according to a press release.

The office will be headed and managed by Practicing Partner Afia Sengupta from New York and will be co-ordinated from India by Legal Researcher Poonam Sharma Baloni,

According to the release, Brus Chambers LLC was incorporated in March 2015 as a separate Limited Liability Company at New Jersey and on May 26, 2015 opened its New York Office. The firm will also open offices in Washington DC and Missouri on July 31, 2015

In India, Brus Chambers has been in existence since 1992. Its work includes shipping, infrastructure projects and international arbitration.

Managing and Practising Partner Dr. Shrikant Hathi of Brus Chambers, India is also the President of the American law firm Brus Chambers LLC. Hathi is qualified as a solicitor in the United Kingdom and as an Advocate-on-Record in the Supreme Court of India.

Hathi also commented on liberalisation of Indian legal market in the release. He said, “If United States can allows setting up foreign law firms in their country; even India should consider allowing setting up foreign law firms in India after considering all other factors including reciprocity between the countries.”
